On the morning of the 15th at 10 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the '2022 Nowon-gu Residents Sports Festival' held at Madeul Sports Town.

Hosted by the Nowon-gu Sports Council and organized by the 19 district sports councils of Nowon-gu, this event is significant as it was planned and promoted by the residents themselves.

Before the opening ceremony, the Nowon-gu Taekwondo demonstration team and cheerleading performances were held. The opening ceremony proceeded in the order of national anthem, opening declaration, introduction of guests, congratulatory speeches, encouragement speeches, trophy return, athlete's oath, torch relay, and commemorative photo session.

The sports events included six categories: '7-player penalty shootout', 'Cooperative ball bouncing', 'Mixed obstacle relay', 'Tug of war', 'Color plate flipping', and volleyball (with a women's arm wrestling competition as an extra event). A total of about 3,000 pre-selected athletes and residents competed fiercely.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "After three years, we were able to hold a sports festival where residents gather to unite and communicate," and added, "I hope this event, where everyone enjoys the games together, will encourage interest in participating in community sports and provide an opportunity for local residents to run together and feel the warmth of their neighbors."
