102 Works Including Large-Scale Dansaekhwa Pieces, Approximately 6.2 Billion KRW in Value
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Large-scale works by Dansaekhwa masters such as Lee Ufan and Park Seo-bo will be auctioned.
On the 15th, K-Auction announced at its headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, that a total of 102 works worth approximately 6.2 billion KRW will be offered at the October auction scheduled for the 26th.
This auction draws attention with large works over size 120 by masters Lee Ufan, Kim Chang-yeol, and Park Seo-bo. Additionally, works by representative Korean artists such as Nam June Paik, Kim Whanki, Yoo Youngkuk, and Lee Sukja, as well as key figures in Korean abstract art like Lee Seungjo, Jeon Kwangyoung, and Lee Bae, will be available.
Park Seo-bo's 'Myobeop No. 051025' is a red-colored 'Late Myobeop' work sized 120. Among the Myobeop series that Park has persistently painted for over 50 years, the 'Late Myobeop' is characterized by a simple composition and color with emotions thoroughly excluded, coexistence of lines formed at regular intervals, and monotonous surfaces. The estimated price is between 600 million and 750 million KRW.
Lee Ufan's 150-size 'Correspondence' from 1993 is offered at 730 million to 950 million KRW. Kim Chang-yeol's 'Water Drops' work, also over size 120 (200×161cm), will be auctioned at 200 million to 400 million KRW.

Also featured is Nam June Paik's 'Beuys Vox,' created in memory of his friend, German artist Joseph Beuys.
Unique and distinctive works by young domestic and international artists such as Jung Youngjoo, Woo Gukwon, Jordi Ribes, Jamie Holmes, Baek Maiko Kobayashi, and Takeru Amano will also be auctioned.
In the category of traditional art, there are calligraphy works like Chusa Kim Jeonghui's 'Wangsajeongsi,' Baekbeom Kim Gu's calligraphy 'Boksuyangjeon,' ceramics such as 'White Porcelain Blue Floral Vase' and 'White Porcelain Blue Peony Vase,' paintings including Chunggok Ko Heedong's 'Geumgangsando' and Idang Kim Eunho's 'Incense Burner,' as well as items like Ganghwa bandaji (traditional chest), tea kettles, and small tables.
The auction items can be viewed at the K-Auction exhibition hall until the 26th. Preview viewing is free, and the preview period is open daily. Participation in the auction is possible after registering as a K-Auction member, through written bids, on-site or telephone bidding, and online live bidding.
