[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 14th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, held a kimchi-making experience event with foreigners who were deeply fascinated by the taste of kimchi at the waterfront stage of the Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival.

This event was organized as a Korean traditional food experience for women from multicultural families. The kimchi made by Mayor Park and the foreigners on that day is scheduled to be delivered to low-income households within Mapo District.

The 15th Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival will be held for three days from the 14th to the 16th around the Peace Plaza in World Cup Park.

Yongsan District (Mayor Park Hee-young) and Grand Korea Leisure (CEO Kim Young-san) signed a business agreement on the 13th to promote welfare for district residents.

At the signing ceremony, attended by Mayor Park, the CEO of Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), and officials from the Yongsan Welfare Foundation, GKL donated 30 million KRW to the Yongsan Welfare Foundation to support the ‘Love Kimjang Sharing’ event.

With the donation, 1,000 boxes of kimjang kimchi will be purchased and distributed to low-income families and social welfare facilities and organizations in the district. In addition, the two organizations promised to cooperate mutually to discover social value cooperation projects, support regular donations, and volunteer activities.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan District, said, “I expect this agreement to be of practical help in improving the welfare of district residents,” adding, “We will practice welfare that residents can feel through continuous cooperation.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, presented a certificate of commendation to contributors who helped promote park golf on the 14th and encouraged members of the Gangseo District Park Golf Association (President Lee Gyu-seon).

On that morning, Mayor Kim visited the ‘Gangseo District Association President’s Cup Park Golf Tournament’ held at the Park Golf Course inside the Southwest Water Reclamation Center, bowed to greet the elderly participants, and inquired about their well-being.

Then, Mayor Kim personally toured the park golf tournament venue to carefully check if the elderly had any inconveniences.

About 100 local elderly people attended the tournament, which proceeded with the opening declaration, the association president’s address, commendation of 11 distinguished members, and the oath by the player representative.

Gangnam District (Mayor Cho Seong-myeong) held a donation ceremony for 100 boxes of Jaseng Angel Box (female hygiene products) at the district office on the 14th together with Jaseng Medical Foundation and Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital.

The ceremony was attended by Cho Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam District, Lee Jin-ho, Director of Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital, and Kim Dong-hee, Head of Social Contribution Office at Jaseng Medical Foundation. The donated items will be delivered to low-income female adolescents in the area.
