Seoul Arts Center Shines with Harmony of Old and New


Veteran artists such as Lee Jaesuk, Lee Youngja, and Jang Hyewon will deliver an emotional performance alongside younger musicians. This will take place at the Korea Arts Academy concert held at the Seoul Arts Center at 8 p.m. on the 15th. Through collaboration with young artists, they offer a new cultural enjoyment experience.


Six members of the Arts Academy will take the stage: Gayageum player Lee Jaesuk, composer Lee Youngja, pianists Jang Hyewon and Shin Sujeong, cellist Na Deokseong, and soprano Lee Gyudo.


Lee Jaesuk will perform the 18-string Gayageum concerto "Dance of Uruk" together with junior artists Song Jeongmin, Lee Hwayoung, Yoon Dohee, Hwang Ire (all Gayageum), and Kim Seonok (Janggu).


Lee Gyudo will sing "Dongsimcho" and Verdi's opera piece "La Forza del Destino - O God, Grant Us Peace" accompanied by pianist Yoon Soyoung, while Jang Hyewon will perform a piano piece by Gabriel Piern?.


Lee Youngja will present three compositions based on poems by Kim Namjo?"To the Dead," "Our Dokdo, Painful Love," and "My Heart Hurts"?performed by tenor Lee Younghwa and pianist Koo Jaeun.


Na Deokseong and Shin Sujeong, together with violinist Lee Kyungseon, will perform Beethoven's Trio "Archduke."


As part of its cultural sharing initiative, the Arts Academy will invite about 100 members of culturally marginalized groups to the audience. An official stated, "We hope this concert will mark a return to vibrant artistic creation and presentation as before COVID-19."
