Comparison of Non-Covered Medical Fees: 'Apeujima' Secures First Investment from Rising S Ventures

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] ‘Apeujima,’ a non-reimbursable medical fee search and comparison platform for hospitals and clinics, has attracted external investment for the first time since its establishment. By securing funds from Rising S Ventures, a venture capital (VC) affiliated with Geumseong Baekjo Housing, it has laid the foundation for growth.

According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 14th, Apeujima recently succeeded in raising seed round investment. Currently, Rising S Ventures has already disbursed the investment funds, and other investors are also reviewing potential investments.

Founded in July last year, Apeujima is a comprehensive medical information platform that allows users to search for non-reimbursable medical fees by hospital and clinic. Since it is location-based, users can search not only for nearby hospitals and clinics but also for those in specific locations such as the area where their parents live.

After launching Android and iOS applications, the platform has been rapidly expanding the number of price inquiry categories. Currently, it operates services that provide prices for about 400 non-reimbursable items including implants, LASIK/LASEK, cosmetic injections, nutritional injections, vaccinations, manual therapy, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and nail fungus treatment, as well as information on hospitals and pharmacies open at night and on weekends.

In particular, recently, the cosmetic injection category was subdivided into Botox, Rejuran, Baekok injection, Chanel injection, etc. Botox is also detailed by body part. Nutritional injections are further segmented into garlic injection, placenta injection, vitamin injection, and more. There are a total of 44 items. Additionally, users can check injection dosages and whether the products are imported or domestically produced.

Apeujima focuses on helping users make rational choices. Recognizing its service usefulness, it was selected for the 4th cohort of Google Play’s ‘Changgu’ program this year. It also won the grand prize at a location-based service contest.

Moreover, it was selected as the 3rd cohort in the Insurtech startup incubation program at the ‘Beyond Fintech Demo Day 2022,’ hosted by DB Insurance and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). It is steadily expanding its presence in the industry.

Apeujima aims to become the number one comprehensive medical information portal in Korea within five years. After establishing a solid foundation domestically, it plans to expand its innovative medical information system overseas and grow into a global company.
