The "Higher Vocational Education Hub District Project," a public contest project led by the Ministry of Education, supports the utilization of human and material resources of junior colleges and lifelong vocational education capabilities according to regional demand, aiming to become a driving force for regional development and contribute to national balanced development.
This project plays an important role in creating a virtuous cycle structure linking admission-education-employment by providing stable conditions for fostering specialized local talent and advancing lifelong vocational education through cooperation between basic local governments and junior colleges.

As part of the project, Seo-gu selected and opened the Department of Welfare Management in the Care Management field and the Department of Food and Nutrition in the Nutrition Service field as regional specialized fields in cooperation with Gwangju Health University, and plans to strengthen lifelong vocational education through expert training programs such as community care experts, healthcare experts, Well-Being experts, and Well-Aging experts.
Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang said, "Through this Higher Vocational Education Hub District project, we have specialized lifelong vocational education for local residents together with Gwangju Health University," and added, "We will do our best to lead regional development by establishing a symbiotic network among the region, universities, and industries."
