[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] TMAP has opened the doors to the ‘TMAP Mobile Shelter,’ available to anyone working on mobility platforms such as delivery and designated drivers. Initially, it is planned to operate until the end of the year, with plans to consider extensions and regional expansions later.

On the 13th, TMAP Mobility announced that as part of the ‘Driver Happiness Project,’ it is operating TMAP Mobile Shelters in key areas of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.

The mobile shelter, set up in two 45-seat large buses, is available not only to TMAP designated drivers but also to delivery riders, quick service drivers, and anyone working on mobility platforms. Operating hours are from 9 PM to 5 AM the next day, with staff assisting entry after a simple identity verification.

Currently, the shelters are operating in front of Exit 9 of Gangnam Station and within the Oido Food Street. From next month, in Seoul, shelters will be sequentially operated every 2 to 4 weeks in Seocho-dong (opposite the main gate of Seoul National University of Education near the Gyo-dae Gopchang Alley) and Nonhyeon-dong (near Exit 7 of Nonhyeon Station). In Gyeonggi Province, shelters will be operated in Gwanyang-dong, Anyang City (in front of Exit 5 of Indeogwon Station), Janghang-dong, Ilsandong-gu, and Ingye-dong, Suwon. Detailed operation schedules and location information can be checked through notices and alert messages on the TMAP designated driver application (app).

The shelter is equipped with refreshments and warm beverages, hand warmers, fast phone chargers, foot massagers, portable massagers, blood pressure monitors, arcade game machines, and more. A prize draw event is also underway, offering travel vouchers worth 500,000 KRW and department store gift certificates worth 200,000 KRW.

According to TMAP Mobility, the shelter will operate until December 31 for now. They are currently collecting feedback on improvements through listening to grievances within the shelter. Plans to extend the period or expand to regions outside the metropolitan area are also under consideration.

Kim Do-hyun, Head of Designated Business and Services at TMAP Mobility, said, “As the chilly weather continues, the number of drivers visiting the TMAP Mobile Shelter is steadily increasing. We will actively continue the Driver Happiness Project to maintain a spirit of coexistence with mobility platform workers.”
