'2022 Korea Hot Spring Grand Festival' 10.14~16 Goseong-gun Wonam·Inheung Hot Spring Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The '2022 Korea Hot Spring Grand Festival' will be held for three days starting from the 14th in the northernmost area of Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do (Wonam-Inheung Hot Springs).
Under the theme 'Healing Chilling! Goseong Hot Springs,' various events such as the performance of boiling 2022 eggs using hot spring water, the hot spring spacing-out contest, the hot spring challenge Golden Bell, GO! Goseong Craft Beer Festa, and busking will take place.
The festival atmosphere will be enlivened by the Healing Chilling Hot Spring Concert featuring popular domestic singers, and a health hot spring knowledge concert by mountaineer Captain Um Hong-gil, the first in the world to summit all sixteen 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas, and Dr. Ahn Taek-won.
Experiential healing events such as the Hot Spring Golden Bell, Hot Spring Development Academic Conference, nationwide hot spring workers' training, Goseong-gun specialty product flea market, and hot spring experience workshops are also prepared.
The organizers, Gangwon-do, plan to use this hot spring grand festival, which will be composed of opening ceremonies, congratulatory performances, participatory events, and exhibitions, as a driving force to promote public interest in domestic hot springs and foster the hot spring tourism industry.
Starting in 2007 in Uljin, this year marks the 14th edition of the hot spring festival, which is organized with opening ceremonies, congratulatory performances, participatory events, and exhibitions.
Kim Kyung-gu, Director of the Green Bureau of Gangwon-do, said, "Through this hot spring grand festival held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, we expect to widely promote the excellence of Gangwon-do Goseong hot springs to the public and contribute to regional economic development by linking with local tourism resources."
