[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Juri] A man in his 30s who repeatedly contacted a woman he met through social networking services (SNS) and made video calls exposing his genitals was sentenced to prison.
The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 8 announced on the 10th that it sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted for violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, to six months in prison and ordered him to complete 40 hours each of sexual violence and stalking treatment programs.
He was also banned from employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities for three years.
In December of last year, Mr. A called the victim woman from his home in Ulsan using his mobile phone, hung up without saying anything, then called again saying, "I have been watching you for two years. I love you," repeatedly making contact that caused fear.
Mr. A also used a smartphone SNS app to make video calls to Ms. B and exposed his genitals.
While browsing SNS, Mr. A also made several calls with restricted caller ID to another woman, Ms. C, whom he happened to meet, and committed similar crimes.
In June of this year, Mr. A exposed his genitals near a bus stop at night despite several people passing by.
The court stated the reason for the sentence: "Mr. A committed the crime again against unspecified victims despite having been punished several times for similar offenses."
