[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] It has been revealed that the Board of Audit and Inspection obtained the entire train usage records of Kim Je-nam, Chairman of the Korea Nuclear Safety Foundation, for the past five years, who is under resignation pressure from the People Power Party.

On the 9th, the office of Kim Hoe-jae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated in a press release that the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the Korea Railroad Corporation on the 20th of last month to submit all train usage records of about 7,000 public officials under the name of "Audit on the Management Status of Funded and Invested Institutions."

Kim, the chairman, started his role at the foundation in February this year, and the problem, according to Representative Kim, is that records prior to that period were also taken. Representative Kim said, "This is a large-scale civilian surveillance aimed at ousting institution heads appointed by the previous government," and added, "The suspicions must be clarified through a thorough investigation."

The Board of Audit and Inspection reportedly explained, "The inclusion of civilian period records occurred during the bulk request process, but these will not be used in the audit."

Chairman Kim served as a Justice Party member of the 19th National Assembly, then served as the Secretary for Climate and Environment and Senior Secretary for Civil Society under the Moon Jae-in administration before being appointed chairman of the Nuclear Safety Foundation.
