19,393 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide as of 9 PM

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] As of 9 PM on the 7th, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide was in the high 10,000s.

According to Seoul and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on that day, a total of 18,393 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 2,879 fewer than the same time the previous day (21,272).

Considering additional confirmed cases expected by midnight when the tally closes, the number of new cases to be announced on the 8th is expected to be around 20,000.

By 9 PM on that day, new cases were 9,505 (51.7%) in the metropolitan area and 8,888 (48.3%) in non-metropolitan areas. By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 5,176, Seoul 3,963, Daegu 833, Incheon 1,055, Gyeongbuk 1,104, Gyeongnam 1,057, Gangwon 690, Chungbuk 668, Chungnam 607, Jeonbuk 656, Busan 448, Jeonnam 502, Gwangju 470, Daejeon 504, Ulsan 366, Sejong 149, and Jeju 145.

From the 1st to the 7th, the daily new confirmed cases for one week were 26,947 → 23,587 → 12,142 → 16,416 → 34,734 → 28,648 → 22,298, with a daily average of 23,539.
