Seoul Digital Foundation Announces Recruitment of Companies for 'Service Usability Improvement Support Project'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Digital Foundation announced on the 9th that it is recruiting Seoul-based digital content and service companies to participate in the ‘Digital Usability Evaluation and Improvement Support Project.’

This ‘Digital Usability Evaluation and Improvement Support Project’ is one of the Seoul Digital Foundation’s initiatives to accompany digital vulnerable groups. It was established to support private companies’ solutions so that digital vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, can comfortably use the relevant services and devices.

Eligibility for support includes companies based in Seoul that possess digital content or services, either pre-market launch or already commercialized. Services that are inclusive of socially vulnerable groups such as the elderly will receive additional points during selection.

The three selected companies will receive consulting support that includes forming citizen experience groups consisting of young, middle-aged, and elderly participants, analyzing digital service usability, and expert advice to improve the usability of their solutions.

In particular, the core of this project is to practically improve the convenience for digital vulnerable groups. A key feature is recruiting citizens aligned with the main goals and acquiring usability-related improvement factors and related data at the Seoul Smart City Center located in Sangam-dong.

The five evaluation methods used for digital service usability analysis are behavioral observation, eye tracking, EEG measurement, behavioral PPG (heart rate) measurement, and in-depth interviews. These methods are utilized to establish methodologies necessary for service-specific improvements and to support usability evaluation and analysis.

Director Kang Yo-sik stated, “Many people still experience difficulties using digital devices in real-world settings,” adding, “We will continue to expand opportunities to verify and demonstrate smart city solutions domestically and internationally so that private digital content and services can be well established in the field.”

Meanwhile, Seoul Digital Foundation plans to review the effectiveness of the ‘Digital Service Usability Improvement Support Project’ through a pilot operation with three companies this year and aims to expand the project next year to improve services for 30 companies.
