Sacheon Coast Guard, Inspection and Campaign for Powered Water Leisure Vehicles
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Sacheon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam will conduct a free inspection of powered water leisure equipment along with a safety campaign on the 27th.
According to Sacheon Maritime Police on the 7th, there have been a total of 34 water leisure accidents within the Sacheon Maritime Police jurisdiction this year.
Among these, 25 cases, accounting for 74% of the total, were mostly simple accidents caused by lack of safety awareness such as poor engine maintenance, careless operation, and fuel depletion.
The Maritime Police analyzed that many safety accidents occur among individual leisure activity participants due to insufficient preventive maintenance and poor engine maintenance.
Accordingly, together with specialized leisure equipment repair companies, they plan to provide free basic safety inspections and consultations on engine conditions and conduct counseling on equipment management methods.
To enable water leisure users to prevent and respond to safety accidents on their own, expert consultations on leisure equipment management and safety rules for each leisure equipment will also be provided.
Promotional items such as portable fire extinguishers and air vent indicator stickers will also be distributed.
The free inspection service will take place on the 27th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. around Palpo Port in Donggeum-dong, Sacheon City.
Services can be received after making a prior reservation with the Sacheon Maritime Police Traffic Leisure Division.
A Sacheon Maritime Police official said, "We hope to prevent accidents in advance through the free inspection," and added, "When engaging in leisure activities, be sure to conduct self-inspections such as checking fuel levels and engine conditions."
