[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Choi Kyungpil] On the 7th, Jeonnam Wando-gun announced that it is accelerating the Saemangeum 300 project, which involves a total investment of 82.4 billion KRW.

The Saemangeum 300 project is a regionally focused SOC project that supports innovative growth in fishing villages by modernizing outdated infrastructure such as piers and integrating development projects that reflect the characteristics of fishing villages and ports.

Since 2019, the county has been selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries public contest for nine locations: Geumdang Gahak Port and Nohwa Solji Port in 2019; Gunoe Dangin Port, Cheongsan Modo Port, Geumil Singu Port, and Sinji Myeongsa Port in 2020; Soan Mira Port and Yaksan Eodu Port in 2021; and Nohwa Mira Port (including Dongsong Port) in 2022, where the Saemangeum 300 project is currently underway.

The 2019 project sites, Gahak Port and Solji Port, are nearing completion of breakwater and floating dock construction, as well as the establishment of waiting rooms and fishermen's halls.

Among the 2020 project sites, Singu Port, known for its outstanding natural scenery, is applying a pilot design management system to enhance spatial, environmental, and design value. Reflecting residents' demands more than other areas, it is focusing on education, culture, and welfare projects, and has achieved high satisfaction through active resident participation until the final stages of the project.

Sinji Myeongsa Port is undergoing port facility maintenance such as floating dock installation and the construction of a healing center.

The 2021 project sites, Yaksan Eodu Port and Soan Mira Port, are currently extending breakwaters, reinforcing quays, and improving passenger ship terminals. Residents are organizing village enterprises to develop and market specialty product brands, aiming to increase income.

The 2022 project sites are currently in the basic planning stage.

Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, stated, “We will steadily promote the Saemangeum 300 project tailored to regional characteristics to create a livable and vibrant fishing village.”
