Gurye-gun Operates Empathy and Healing Exploration Program for People with Disabilities

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it operated the “Empathy and Healing Exploration Program” in Jeju Island from the 4th to the 6th (2 nights and 3 days) for about 30 disabled people in the area to increase opportunities for active social participation of the disabled.

This project has been promoted by Jeollanam-do since 2017, supporting disabled people who have limited opportunities to explore history, culture, and nature to participate in the exploration program with their families, facilitating communication with others, healing the aftereffects of disabilities, and encouraging social activity participation.

This year’s “Empathy and Healing Exploration Program” was promoted by the Jeollanam-do Physical Disability Association Gurye Branch, with about 30 participants including severely and mildly disabled people residing in Gurye-gun, their guardians, and volunteers, conducting a 2-night 3-day exploration of nature, culture, and history in Jeju Island.

County Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “We will continue to support so that disabled people do not experience inequality in opportunities to enjoy culture due to their disabilities, and furthermore, we will strive to create a foundation for disabled people to actively participate in social activities.”
