[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, which has been deadlocked over each issue due to the 'equal number of ruling and opposition parties,' will hold a one-point extraordinary session to process the supplementary budget bill.

According to the Provincial Assembly on the 7th, the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea agreed to hold a plenary session of the one-point extraordinary session on the 20th to process the supplementary budget bills submitted by the provincial government and the Provincial Office of Education. Accordingly, both parties in the Provincial Assembly will hold the Budget and Accounts Committee from the 11th to the 19th to review and approve the supplementary budget bills of the two institutions.

Previously, the Budget and Accounts Committee, composed of 14 members each from the People Power Party and the Democratic Party, planned to convene on the 29th of last month and process the supplementary budget bill by the 6th. However, the session was repeatedly adjourned on the 29th and 30th of last month, and no meetings were held from the 4th to the 6th of this month.

This was because the People Power Party questioned the legality of transferring 900 billion won from the Integrated Fiscal Stabilization Fund, which was the source of the supplementary budget, to the general account.

Accordingly, both parties in the Provincial Assembly decided to submit and process only the agenda items excluding the supplementary budget bill at the plenary session of the extraordinary session on the 7th and then adjourn.

Meanwhile, according to the rules of the Provincial Assembly meetings, the chairperson is to submit the supplementary budget bill to the plenary session after the Budget and Accounts Committee's review is completed, and it is not possible to submit it ex officio.
