[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City and related organizations are joining forces to ensure the safety of attendees at the BTS concert, which is just a week away.
Busan City announced on the 7th that to secure the safety of attendees at the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Bid BTS Concert’ to be held on the 15th, it will form a Safety Coordination Team with agencies such as the police and fire department and plans to cooperate and respond in all areas related to concert safety.
The Safety Coordination Team will operate until the end of the concert and consists of five teams composed of the city, districts, fire department, and police according to the main risk factors of safety accidents at the venue: ▲Safety Coordination Team (Citizen Safety Office) ▲Facility Management Team (Sports Facility Management Office, Yeonje-gu, Dong-gu, Haeundae-gu) ▲Medical Support Team (Citizen Health Bureau) ▲Emergency Response Team (Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters) ▲Order Maintenance Team (Busan Police Agency).
The Safety Coordination Team will oversee the overall safety of the concert and coordinate roles and support matters with the organizer HYBE and each team of the Safety Coordination Team.
In addition, together with related agencies and private experts, they will conduct thorough safety inspections of stage facilities and various equipment installed at Asiad Main Stadium, Bukhang, and Haeundae Beach to ensure venue safety.
The Facility Management Team will carry out environmental maintenance and pre-inspections of vulnerable areas to ensure convenience and safe viewing for attendees visiting the venue and plans to address any inconveniences before the concert.
The Medical Support Team will establish on-site emergency medical stations at each venue and operate an emergency contact network (Hot-Line) with local emergency medical institutions (28 locations) and a regional trauma center (1 location) to prepare for casualties such as crowd crushes and injuries like exhaustion due to the large gathering of attendees, thereby establishing and operating an emergency medical response system for rapid response.
The Emergency Response Team plans to deploy 233 firefighting personnel and a total of 26 pieces of equipment, including 3 fire trucks and 9 rescue ambulances, near the venue to support fire suppression and emergency medical care.
Recovery vehicles will be stationed at Asiad Main Stadium to prepare for attendee exhaustion incidents. In case of emergencies such as casualties or injuries, reports should be made to 119.
The Order Maintenance Team will deploy maximum available personnel to prevent various crimes such as safety accidents, sexual crimes, and pickpocketing around the venue and will make every effort to maintain order and patrol.
The city will additionally install four 360-degree rotating CCTVs near four locations around Asiad Main Stadium to support the Order Maintenance Team’s efforts to prevent congestion accidents.
On the concert day, the 15th, about 1,500 people from the city, related organizations, and private groups will support attendee safety. Before the concert starts, they will assist with safe entry to the venue, and after the concert ends, they will support safe use of public transportation such as urban railways, taking full responsibility for attendee safety from arrival to return home.
Furthermore, to ensure organic cooperation with related agencies such as the police and fire department, a comprehensive situation room will be operated from the 14th, the day before the concert, to respond quickly to various emergencies and activate an on-site centered situation management system.
Lee Byung-jin, Deputy Mayor of Busan, said, “This BTS concert will be watched not only by about 100,000 attendees on site but also by BTS fan clubs totaling 18 million people from 100 countries worldwide,” adding, “With an extraordinary determination to prove Busan’s capability as a safe city worthy of being a candidate for the 2030 World Expo, we plan to closely cooperate with related agencies such as the police and fire department and civic groups from all walks of life.”
