[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 7th that it has obtained the Safety and Health Management System (ISO 45001) certification by reducing safety risk factors at its workplaces and establishing an international-level safety and health management system.
The Safety and Health Management System (ISO 45001) is the highest-level international standard certification in the field of safety and health. It is a system that evaluates the implementation of safety and health management systems by organizations to prevent various types of risks and industrial accidents across different industries.
As the highest-level certification, it underwent thorough document and on-site audits covering 10 areas defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), including organizational context, leadership and worker participation, legal requirements, emergency response measures, safety and health activities, and objectives.
The corporation established safety and health management manuals, guidelines, and procedures at 24 operational sites including Seoul World Cup Stadium, Cheonggyecheon, and Gocheok Sky Dome, and was recognized for its efforts in establishing safety and health-related management policies and conducting risk assessments for each task.
Meanwhile, to enhance the safety of not only citizens using the facilities but also employees, the corporation operates a “Daily Safety Briefing” that shares accident case videos before each shift to raise awareness of the importance of adhering to safety rules. Additionally, it runs an “Open Risk Communication Reporting Center” where any risk factors discovered anywhere can be immediately reported and addressed, as well as a “Construction Site Risk Reporting System” to prevent safety accidents among on-site workers during contracted construction projects.
Seoul Facilities Corporation Director Kim Young said, “This result acknowledges that the safety culture establishment and management systemization efforts we have been promoting have reached a certain level,” adding, “Since the safety of citizens and employees is our top priority, we will continue to do our best to strengthen safety going forward.”
