POSCO Pohang Steelworks Conducts Joint Fire Drill with Nambu Fire Station

Mastering Step-by-Step Response Methods During Disasters, Strengthening Efficient Response Systems Through Information Sharing

On the afternoon of the 6th, POSCO Pohang Steelworks established a fire prevention and disaster cooperation system with Pohang Southern Fire Station and conducted joint fire drills to enhance disaster response capabilities.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO Pohang Steelworks has engaged in joint fire drills with the Pohang Southern Fire Station to establish an organic fire prevention cooperation system and enhance response capabilities in the event of disasters such as fires.

Hosted by the Pohang Southern Fire Station, this drill was organized together with POSCO's own fire brigade, POSCO Safety and Disaster Prevention Department's control room, and related departments to master step-by-step response methods during disasters and strengthen an efficient response system through rapid dispatch based on information sharing between agencies.

The drill simulated various scenarios such as an unexplained fire at the substation within the steelworks and initial extinguishing by POSCO's own fire brigade, deploying a total of nine vehicles including pump trucks, ambulances, and command vehicles to conduct a realistic training exercise.

A POSCO Pohang Steelworks official stated, “By preparing and conducting this joint drill and performing a self-assessment, we plan to actively seek improvement measures in the future, maintain a cooperative relationship by establishing a hotline between the fire station and POSCO, and do our best to protect the lives and property of employees in the event of a disaster.”
