[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] The 5th Jeju Governor's Cup Korea-China-Japan Pro Boxing National Competition, hosted by the Korea Jeju Boxing Committee and sponsored by Jeju Province and JIBS Jeju Broadcasting, will be held on the 23rd at 2 PM at the Halla Indoor Gymnasium of Jeju Sports Complex.
This event will feature 2 PABA Asia title matches and 3 OPBF Oriental ranking matches. Top-ranked players including current Korean champions Middleweight Baek Dae-hyun, Bantamweight Oh Sang-heon, Featherweight Korea No.1 Joo Min-guk, Je Hwang-guk, and Jo Yong-in are expected to deliver high-level bouts.
With professional players from Korea, China, and Japan participating, the competition will consist of one 6-round match, three 8-round matches, and one 10-round match. The strong skills of Japanese and Chinese participants promise thrilling contests as the main attraction.
On the 22nd at 2 PM, the official weigh-in for participating players will take place at the event's joining ceremony, where officials and players will be introduced. Former world champions Jang Jeong-gu, Park Jong-pal, and Ji In-jin will attend to support the success of this pro boxing national competition.
Kang Dae-wook, Chairman of the Korea Jeju Boxing Committee, stated, “The purpose of this event is to serve as a medium to restore trust through international sports exchange in the free international city of Jeju and to lead to new economic partnerships.” He added, “We ask boxing fans to show great interest in this match, which will be broadcast live by JIBS Jeju Broadcasting, to promote a new revival of pro boxing.”
