[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on the 6th urged all ministries to "make every effort to eradicate drugs with a resolute determination to protect public health."

On the same day, Prime Minister Han presided over the Ministerial Meeting on National Issues at the Government Seoul Office and stated, "Drastic measures are needed against drug crimes."

He pointed out, "Until a few years ago, Korea was called a drug-free country, but with the development of the internet and the increase in international courier services, drug distribution has spread, damaging that status," adding, "Even teenage drug offenders are increasing day by day."

Regarding the recent domestic and international economic situation, he emphasized, "Due to a series of events such as changes in monetary policies and trade situations of major countries recently, concerns about inflation and economic contraction continue in some quarters," and stressed, "We must further strengthen the risk response system both domestically and internationally."

He also said, "In order to respond to the recent unpredictable weather phenomena, accurate weather forecasting is extremely important in this era," and urged, "Please do your best to enhance public trust and establish Korea's status as a global meteorological powerhouse."

Furthermore, he instructed the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of Education to implement detailed measures, saying, "For youths struggling with school maladjustment, we must ensure that they do not face frustration at a young age through protection systems inside and outside of school."
