"Difficult Economy and Financial Markets... Finance Industry Needs to Take a Step Forward"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Jeong Wankyu, former president of Korea Securities Finance Corporation, has been appointed as the 13th chairman of the Credit Finance Association.
The Credit Finance Association announced on the morning of the 6th that it held an extraordinary general meeting and appointed former president Jeong as the 13th chairman. Jeong's term is three years, and he officially began his duties from that day.
Born in 1963, Chairman Jeong graduated from Jeonnam Sadaebu High School and Korea University with a degree in Public Administration. He also earned degrees from Seoul National University Graduate School of Public Administration, KDI School of International Policy and Management, and Michigan State University College of Business.
Additionally, he entered public service by passing the 34th Administrative Examination and has served as the Financial Services Commission's Director of Small and Micro Finance Policy, Senior Specialist at the National Assembly, and Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit. Most recently, he served as president of Korea Securities Finance Corporation.
An association official explained about Chairman Jeong, "He has accumulated extensive experience and expertise in finance through his career in both public service and the private financial market. He is recognized as a suitable person who possesses excellent communication skills and can greatly contribute to the development of the industry."
Chairman Jeong stated, "In a challenging macroeconomic and financial market environment and rapidly changing internal and external financial competition, our industry needs to take a step forward. Together with the 134 member companies working with the best talent and passion, I will do my best as chairman to ensure the sustainable development of the industry."
