Homeplus, Discount Event on Cabbage, Eolgali, and Yeolmu... "Catching the Price of Geumchi"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Homeplus announced on the 6th that it will hold a promotional event offering discounts on representative kimchi ingredients such as cabbage, young radish leaves (eolgal-i), and young radish (yeolmu) as part of its price stabilization project.

In this event, starting on the 7th, Homeplus will collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to offer special prices exclusively for My Homeplus membership members. Domestic cabbage (3 heads) will be sold at a 20% discount for 13,520 KRW, limited to 4,000 bags per store nationwide. This equates to approximately 4,507 KRW per head. Domestic "Hangadeuk" young radish leaves and young radish will be sold at a promotional price of 3,290 KRW from the 7th to the 10th.

Ahead of the peak kimchi-making season, Homeplus has been actively expanding sourcing areas to secure products amid the ongoing surge in kimchi ingredient prices. The supply areas for cabbage have been expanded from Gangwon's Pyeongchang, Taebaek, and Samcheok to the highland regions of Yeongwol and Chuncheon in Gangwon and Yeongyang in Gyeongbuk to secure cabbage quantities.

A Homeplus official said, "This event was prepared to reduce the price burden on customers' shopping baskets," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to support farmers and stabilize food prices by providing high-quality products at reasonable prices until cabbage prices stabilize."
