[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) appointed trot singer Seol Woon-do as Yongsan-gu promotional ambassador on the 5th.

Seol Woon-do, who resides in Yongsan-gu, was appointed as the district's promotional ambassador due to his high public recognition through various activities such as performances and entertainment. His term is two years, during which he will participate in district festivals and various commemorative events to promote Yongsan.

Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We are grateful to Seol Woon-do for gladly accepting the appointment as promotional ambassador,” and added, “We hope to widely promote Yongsan-gu’s key policies and activities through Seol Woon-do’s influence that spans all generations.”

Sponsored by Yeongdeungpo-gu and hosted by Yeongdeungpo Cultural Center, the festival runs from the 6th to the 8th between 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM along approximately 150 meters of Anyangcheon from Omokgyo to Mokdonggyo. Visitors can enjoy colorful paper lanterns, cultural performances, and art exhibitions, enhancing the autumn night atmosphere.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope everyone enjoys a leisurely time walking the charming paper lantern path and watching performances,” and added, “We will strive to ensure all residents enjoy cultural benefits through various projects befitting the reputation of Seoul’s first cultural city.”

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the 2022 2nd and 3rd quarter Model Citizen Commendation Ceremony held at the Nowon Citizens’ Hall on the afternoon of the 6th, awarding certificates to 230 exemplary citizens dedicated to local development.

The awardees include flood damage contributors, autonomous disaster prevention groups who contributed to the operation of healing refrigerators, professional organizations, and social groups who have devoted themselves to the development of Nowon-gu in various fields.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I appreciate the hard work of the awardees who contributed to the development of Nowon-gu and sincerely congratulate them,” adding, “I ask for your continued support and cooperation in various projects and policies for a new Nowon.”

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) held an awards ceremony for the Beautiful Architecture Exhibition on the 5th at the first floor of COEX. This exhibition features 18 selected works of the year and offers various programs including VR experiences of the interiors of the exhibited works.

The exhibition will be held simultaneously at COEX and on the metaverse until the 8th.

Seoul Gangseo-gu (District Mayor Kim Tae-woo) conducted the ‘2022 Innovation Training for All Employees’ on the 6th at the Gangseo-gu Citizens’ Hall to spread an innovative mindset within the organization.

The district organized the training to cultivate public officials’ qualities and strengthen organizational capabilities.

On this day, except for essential personnel, all employees attended, and Park Byung-won, Chairman of the Anmin Policy Forum, served as the instructor, emphasizing the importance of discovering and practicing innovative ideas for residents under the theme ‘Korean Economy on the Brink.’

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “Please actively discover creative and novel ideas to improve welfare for socially vulnerable groups and develop district administration,” adding, “We will do our best to create a Gangseo-gu that develops together with residents through tangible changes and innovations.”

Meanwhile, before the training, an awards ceremony was held to honor nine outstanding employees who dramatically improved work methods through creative ideas.

Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will host a delegation from its international sister city, Bayannuur Sum in Bulgan Aimag, Mongolia, for a 4-night, 5-day visit from the 4th to the 8th to strengthen friendly cooperation.

The delegation of 11 members, including Eodeungchimak Bulgan Aimag Bayannuur Sum Chief (head of the sister city institution), discussed mutual cooperation and exchange activation plans between the two cities with district officials on the 5th at the district office’s planning situation room.

Afterward, the delegation will visit major facilities in Gangbuk-gu and Seoul until the 8th to explore benchmarking opportunities.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the opening ceremony of Madeul Health Center held on the 2nd floor multipurpose room of Madeul Health Center at 3 PM on the 5th.

Madeul Health Center, opened near Suraksan Station to strengthen public medical services by region, has a total floor area of 1,922.46㎡ with one basement and five above-ground floors.

Floors 1 to 3 operate as Madeul Health Center, housing a lifelong health management center, nutrition cooking education room, and children’s health experience center, while floors 4 and 5 operate as Nowon-gu Dementia Safety Center.

The opening ceremony proceeded with the attendance of Mayor Oh Seung-rok, district council members, and guests, including opening remarks, guest introductions, progress reports, presentation of plaques of appreciation, speeches, unveiling ceremony, commemorative photos, and facility tours.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I hope residents in the Sanggye area, which had relatively poor access to local health facilities, can receive health management more conveniently,” adding, “We will do our best to promote the construction of a Junggye area health center to establish a balanced public medical system across regions.”

Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) held a residents’ participatory budget general meeting on the 5th to finalize the selection of 2023 residents’ participatory budget projects.

Since May, Geumcheon-gu received 108 project proposals through resident contests. After review by subcommittees, a total of 35 projects worth about 900 million KRW were selected as residents’ participatory budget projects.

The projects decided on this day will be finalized after the district council’s budget review in December.

Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “The most important purpose of participatory budgeting is to reflect the demands and opinions of residents, the sovereigns, in the budget decision process to use the budget more fairly and effectively,” adding, “We will continue to strive to actively incorporate various project proposals from residents into district administration.”
