[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced on the afternoon of the 5th that Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu received the Grand Prize in the Basic Division at the 2022 Korea Local Autonomy Development Awards ceremony held at the Convention Hall of the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall.
The Korea Local Autonomy Development Awards are given to members of the National Assembly, heads of local governments, and basic council members who have implemented policies contributing to regional development by utilizing unique local resources, as well as exemplary policies in local autonomy and decentralization.
Mayor Ryu was recognized for his contributions to improving the quality of public education services through the establishment of the largest Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center in the autonomous district, doubling the education support budget, and the pre-school 1,000-book reading project. He also strengthened the local economic foundation by revitalizing the fashion sewing industry, a representative local industry, and attracting companies through the construction of a knowledge industry center.
In addition, he promoted community revitalization by creating village vitality centers to realize resident-centered local autonomy, and led efforts to solve local issues by operating programs such as Jungnang Masil with the mayor, alley cleaning, and the Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting, attentively listening to residents' voices on site.
Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, "This award is given by the residents of Jungnang-gu and is an award I receive together with them," adding, "I will continue to communicate with residents and repay them by creating the best educational city and a vibrant economic city for a happier Jungnang-gu."
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho) held the completion ceremony for the green remodeling of the Gunja Public Daycare Center and the opening ceremony of the 3rd Kkumipangpang Joint Childcare Room on the 5th.
About 50 people attended the ceremonies, including Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho of Gwangjin-gu, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, the head of the Gwangjin-gu Childcare Support Center, and residents with infants and toddlers. They celebrated the completion and opening and toured the daycare center and joint childcare room together.
Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho said, "With the green remodeling, the energy performance of the daycare center has improved, and I hope our children grow up in a safer and healthier environment," and added, "I expect that caregivers will share childcare information and support each other in the joint childcare room, which is a safe care activity space."
'Green remodeling' refers to a project that improves energy efficiency and indoor air quality for public buildings that are over 10 years old after completion.
The district added exterior wall insulation to the entire building of the Gunja Public Daycare Center, replaced old windows, heating and cooling systems, and air circulators, and reinforced structural cracks found in the walls through a detailed structural safety inspection. Through this, the daycare center's energy consumption is expected to be reduced by 33.4%.
Also, the 'Kkumipangpang Joint Childcare Room,' which is free for families with preschool-aged children, is a safe care and play space as well as a space supporting cooperative childcare activities. The joint childcare room was established to reduce the burden of home childcare on caregivers and provide opportunities to share various childcare information.
The 3rd branch in Gunja-dong, following the 1st and 2nd branches located in Neung-dong and Junggok 3-dong, boasts a particularly spacious play area. It includes a multipurpose room and nursing room for parent participation programs and self-help groups, and various role-playing spaces in addition to a ball pit where children can engage in physical activities.
Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho of Gwangjin-gu said, "I am glad to have prepared a safe care space to improve the childcare environment," and added, "We will continue to create a Gwangjin where it is good to raise children by fostering a childcare environment that parents can trust and a social atmosphere of 'care for all together.'"
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, gave a special lecture on the theme of "A Livable City" at the opening ceremony of the 17th CEO Course held at the Yangcheon Digital Media Center on the afternoon of the 5th.
The 17th CEO Course, starting with Mayor Lee's special lecture, will be held every Wednesday for 9 weeks until November 30, with about 40 participants including CEOs of local companies and professionals.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae of Yangcheon-gu said, "We will continue to improve the rights and interests of businesspeople responsible for the local economy and create a Yangcheon-gu that grows together."
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, conducted an on-site inspection of the Hongdae Walkable Street, Hongik Cultural Park, and Hongdae Festival Street area through the 5th '5th On-site Mayor's Office' operation.
About 30 senior officials, including heads of departments and team leaders in charge, accompanied the mayor during this on-site mayor's office. Mayor Park examined the overall operation status of Hongdae Street with the executives and discussed problems and areas for improvement.
Mayor Park said, "To transform the Hongdae area into a global tourist destination full of food, sights, and entertainment, there are many areas that need improvement and effort going forward," adding, "We must promptly implement development measures that allow the Hongdae area to find its unique local identity and regain vitality."
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu operates the on-site mayor's office by visiting livelihood sites on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month by dedicated bus to listen to difficulties and identify problems.
