Governor-Association Presidents Meeting Held
A meeting of the executive committee of the Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council was held.

Attending the meeting were Governor Park, Gu Ja-cheon, Chairman of Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Council Chairman, Lee Young-chun, Chairman of Jinju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lee Sang-seok, Chairman of Tongyeong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Seo Hee-young, Chairman of Sacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Myung-jin, Chairman of Gimhae Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Son Young-jun, Chairman of Miryang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kim Hwan-jung, Chairman of Geoje Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Byung-dae, Chairman of Yangsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Park Gye-chul, Chairman of Haman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This meeting was organized to share the policy direction of Gyeongnam Province, which prioritizes “a robust economy and abundant jobs,” and to discuss economic issues in the nine cities and counties within the province.
During the meeting, the province introduced support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including the establishment of the “Gyeongnam Enterprise 119” platform to support SME development funds and resolve corporate difficulties, and listened to and discussed current issues related to the regional economy.
The council proposed ▲ the establishment of a business valley to enhance the port logistics industry base ▲ attraction of research institutes to foster the defense industry ▲ securing the status of the space industry cluster and creating a special development zone for opportunities ▲ construction of the National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurship ▲ support for the normalization and competitiveness restoration of the shipbuilding industry.
They also requested ▲ preparation of plans to expand the waste treatment facility at the Anjeong National Industrial Complex ▲ dredging around the pier of Sacheon 2nd General Industrial Complex ▲ upgrading Local Road No. 1028 to a national highway and early opening ▲ creation of a Northeast Asia logistics platform ▲ construction of the Changwon-Gimhae-Miryang expressway ▲ continued support for industrial complex commuter bus leasing projects ▲ expansion of smart factory construction support projects ▲ subsidies for hiring excellent talent in local SMEs ▲ realization of support for the automobile parts industry and support for industry conversion.
Chairman Gu said, “Although the conditions surrounding local industries are challenging this year, companies will continue their efforts and challenges to create local livelihoods and find growth engines,” adding, “The chairpersons of the regional chambers of commerce and industry also sympathize with the provincial government’s direction to revive the dynamism that Gyeongnam once had and will not spare their support and encouragement.”
Governor Park responded, “I express my gratitude to the chairpersons of the chambers of commerce and industry who work hard to promote regional development and enhance the rights and interests of the commercial and industrial sectors,” and said, “We will continue to cooperate with the government to foster the aerospace and defense industries and establish a Northeast Asia logistics platform, and actively strive to resolve corporate difficulties.”
He continued, “In the 8th term of the elected government, Gyeongnam Province will prioritize economic recovery and job creation, create good jobs through corporate investment, and continue interest and support to ensure a virtuous economic cycle.”
