[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] On the 5th, Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held the ‘45th Jangseong Residents' Day’ and the ‘26th Senior Citizens' Day’ commemorative ceremonies on the 4th at the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center Grand Performance Hall.

The ceremony, which began grandly with a popera performance by Big Men Singers, was attended by County Governor Kim Han-jong, National Assemblyman Lee Gae-ho, Jangseong County Council Chairman Ko Jae-jin, provincial and county council members, about 700 Jangseong residents and hometown visitors.

At the Jangseong Residents' Award ceremony, Jeong Chun-ja, former president of Jangseong Arts Association, Ban Gang-jin, president of the Korean Senior Citizens Association Jangseong branch, and Kang Yong, CEO of Haksanongjang Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, were honored with awards.

The awards commemorating Senior Citizens' Day also drew attention.

The county selected 11 model seniors (Kim Yong-gwi, Jeong Sun-yong, Ki Se-jun, Lee Seung-hwan, Kim Hyun-joo, Lee Dae-geun, Song Jae-jung, Yoo Jeong-sook, Byeon Jae-hyu, Kim Jong-yeol, Lee Byeong-nam) and 11 contributors to senior welfare (Cha Haeng-ja, Seo Dong-seop, Lee Jeong-shin, Park Jeong-woo, Choi Tae-gyeong, Kim Byeong-su, Kim Seon-sun, Kim Jong-ok, Kim Jae-yoon, Kim Han-jo, Kim Jae-man), presenting them with plaques of commendation.

After the awards ceremony, a special media large drum performance prepared for Jangseong Residents' Day was held, receiving enthusiastic responses.

The media large drum performance is a percussion show where drums are played with videos projected on a large screen in the background.

In sync with the video, the performance expressed the administrative goals of the 8th elected Jangseong County administration, ‘Harmony and Change, Happy Jangseong Residents,’ and the county’s administrative policies.

Governor Kim Han-jong said, “I feel deeply moved that the commemorative ceremonies, which had been scaled down due to COVID-19, can be held together with residents and hometown visitors starting this year.”

He added, “Jangseong belongs to its residents, is operated by its residents, and if the governor and public officials work for the residents, we will be able to overcome the crisis of local extinction and forever continue the history and tradition of Munbulyeo Jangseong.”

He also stated, “We will never lose our original intention, serve the residents as the owners, achieve new changes and harmony, and create a Jangseong where residents are happy.”
