[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance announced on the 5th that it has launched the 'Non-dividend Meritz Comfortable Digestive Disease Insurance,' which broadly covers digestive system diseases.
This product expands coverage related to digestive system diseases closely linked to modern lifestyle habits.
It is the industry's first to offer diagnosis benefits covering liver, gallbladder, and pancreas-related diseases such as liver abscess, specific cholecystitis and cholangitis, and acute pancreatitis, whose patient numbers are steadily increasing due to the rise in obesity, alcohol consumption, and smoking populations.
Along with obesity, it introduced the industry's first 'Fatty Liver Target Disease Management Support Benefit' to prevent the risk of severe diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, which have a high probability of developing later due to the rapidly increasing fatty liver. It also features detailed cancer diagnosis benefits segmented by digestive system areas (stomach, colon, liver/pancreas, etc.).
The eligible age for subscription is from 15 to 65 years old, and the insurance and payment periods are as follows: Type 1 (renewable) has maturities of 10, 20, or 30 years; Type 2 (single maturity) with full payment has maturities of 80, 90, or 100 years, with payment periods of 10, 20, or 30 years.
A Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance official said, "We developed this new product with the hope that digestive system diseases, which anyone in modern society may have experienced at least once, will not lead to more serious illnesses in the future."
