[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Russia, which has issued a partial mobilization order for reservists, announced on the 4th (local time) that it has conscripted more than 200,000 troops so far.

According to foreign media including AFP, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu revealed at a Ministry of Defense meeting that new recruits are being trained at 80 training grounds and 6 training centers. This comes about two weeks after the mobilization order was issued on September 21.

He told the army and navy commanders, "Only troops who have completed training and combat coordination can be sent to the battlefield," and urged, "Please help new recruits quickly adapt to combat." He also instructed, "Conduct additional training under the guidance of officers with combat experience," and ordered the provision of necessary clothing and equipment to the mobilized reservists.

Regarding conscription centers, he requested that if there are volunteers, "Do not send them back unless there are serious reasons."

However, concerning newly conscripted soldiers, he stated, "They will be assigned to units that do not participate in the 'special military operation' taking place in Ukraine," and "Conscripts who have completed or are about to complete their service will be discharged between October and December."

Russia announced last month that it could mobilize 300,000 out of 25 million reservists when issuing the mobilization order. This is the first time a mobilization order has been issued in Russia since World War II.

In response, protests have erupted nationwide, and cases of fleeing to neighboring countries are increasing. The level of resistance is also rising, with arson incidents targeting conscription centers occurring.
