[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Department of Hotel and Medical Tourism Management at Silla University participated in the Wando-gun Marine Healing Tourism Program, "2022 Clean Wando Autumn Island Trip," for 2 nights and 3 days from September 30 to October 1.

The event was held by Wando-gun, which is promoting the marine healing industry, to establish a foundation for attracting foreign tourists by promoting ecological and cultural resources to foreign students and inspecting healing tourism programs.

About 30 participants, including foreign students and language trainees from the Department of Hotel and Medical Tourism Management and master's and doctoral programs from China, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, and the Netherlands, took part in the program.

Silla University’s foreign students toured Saengildo and Bogildo in Wando-gun, exploring major tourist resources and directly experiencing healing programs.

They experienced physical and mental healing through activities such as "Beach Nordic Walking," walking with sticks using both hands while listening to the sound of waves; "Gosan Night Walk," enjoying the serene autumn night at Seyonjeong Pavilion on Bogildo with night lighting; and "Doing Nothing Experience," letting go of thoughts while listening to the sounds of nature.

Professor Yeom Wi, who is enrolled in the doctoral program, said, "Healing programs utilizing the marine climate are a very interesting topic," and added, "It is worth expecting as a special interest tourism to recommend to Chinese tourists visiting Korea post-COVID-19."

Professor Jang Hee-jung of the Department of Hotel and Medical Tourism Management said, "The medical tourism major at Silla University plans to expand training not only medical tourism coordinators who guide overseas medical patients and tourism before and after treatment but also so-called local healing creators who make the entire region a healing hub."

Silla University has newly established a medical tourism major in the Department of Hotel and Medical Tourism Management to train medical tourism experts who will play a key role in Busan, a global medical tourism city, and is accelerating efforts to build an industry-academia model specialized in the healing industry.
