[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] On the 4th, Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced that it held the ‘Heungbu Village Teoulrim Event,’ marking the opening of the 30th Heungbu Festival, in Inwol-myeon.
Due to heavy rain in the morning, the ancestral rite was held at Heungbu’s tomb in Seongsan Village, and the pre-event and commemorative ceremony took place in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Inwol-myeon Administrative Welfare Center.
Last year, the event was scaled down due to the impact of COVID-19, and it was held again in Inwol-myeon.
This event aims to inherit the spirit of Heungbu?friendship, sharing, gratitude, and luck?and to pray for the village’s safety. It began with Teoulrim (performances of Nongak, geomungo, and folk songs) to wish for abundance and fortune, followed by the commemorative ceremony and ancestral rite.
Wang Gil-seong, head of Inwol-myeon, said, “Seongsan Village, symbolizing family as the hometown of Heungbu, is the birthplace and origin of the Heungbujeon story. Through the ancestral rite, I hope Inwol-myeon becomes a community where residents unite and harmonize by inheriting the spirit of Heungbu, symbolizing friendship and sharing.”
Meanwhile, Inwol-myeon holds the Teoulrim event every year on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month, Chungyangjeol, to honor the spirit of Heungbu, organized by the Inwol Development Council (Chairman Kang Shin-dong).
