'One-Person Household Empathy Talk Show' to be Held at Seoul City Hall on the 19th... Supporting Network Formation for One-Person Households

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] A special talk show that shares the sincere stories of single-person households and supports the formation of networks among them will be held.

On the 4th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the "2022 Single-Person Household Empathy Talk Show" at Basarak Hall in Citizen Hall on the 19th. The empathy talk show is an event designed to openly share thoughts and heartfelt stories that single-person households living in the city of Seoul, South Korea, want to share with other single-person households, thereby forming a loose solidarity among them.

The empathy talk show will be conducted through a keynote presentation by a single-person household expert and a free discussion that can elicit various stories between the panelists and attendees. Professor Lee Joong-sik, who will give the keynote presentation, is the director of the "Living Well Alone" research institute and plans to share vivid experiences and philosophies of single-person households under the theme "10 People, 10 Colors of Single-Person Households."

During the free discussion, interesting and engaging topics that single-person households may face in reality will be selected, starting with a balance game to understand attendees' preferences, followed by story presentations revealing the inner thoughts of pre-registered single-person households, and culminating in a deep discussion on the topic "Can one live happily alone?"

In addition, various side programs such as K-pop cultural performances and raffles are also prepared. The pre-event cultural performance will be by "Sikhan Aideul," who will perform remakes of DJ DOC's "Summer Story" and Rula's "3!4!" to liven up the event atmosphere. Also, honest experiences of a member who lived as a single-person household after moving to Seoul will be introduced. The main panelists of the event are composed of single-person household experts who understand the realities well and can face them honestly and wittily.

Meanwhile, the official Seoul single-person household social media (SNS) "Single Bungle Seoul," which provides real-time information related to single-person households, was newly launched on the 30th of last month. To celebrate the launch of the single-person household SNS, Seoul is also conducting a rich prize event for new participants until the 19th.

Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Women and Family Policy Office, said, “As social interest in single-person households is growing, we hope this will be a place where single-person households can openly empathize with each other,” adding, “We will ensure that their precious stories and concerns lead to practical policy support that single-person households can truly feel in the future.”
