Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, held a results briefing session for the Basic Plan for Urban Environmental Design for Crime Prevention
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 1st at 11 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the '2022 Carbon Neutral Nowon Festival' held at Deungnamu Cultural Park in Junggye-dong.
The Carbon Neutral Nowon Festival, introduced for the first time this year, was organized to raise awareness of the seriousness of the climate crisis and the importance of achieving carbon neutrality, and to encourage residents to practice it in their daily lives.
The event was attended by Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Dong Jong-in, Chairman of the Nowon Environmental Foundation, Kim Joon-sung, Chairman of the Nowon-gu Council, and other guests and residents. The program proceeded in the order of opening declaration, national anthem, introduction of guests, opening remarks and greetings, proclamation of the Carbon Neutral Nowon declaration, and commemorative photo.
Eleven representatives from various sectors of Nowon-gu pledged in relay that all residents would thoroughly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As side events, a total of 52 booths were operated under five themes: ▲Climate Energy ▲Ecological Environment ▲Resource Circulation ▲Proper Food ▲Green Consumption.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I ask everyone to take an interest in the climate crisis issue that can no longer be postponed and to participate in reducing greenhouse gases through this event,” adding, “We will strive to achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality goal without fail.”
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) held a result briefing session for the basic plan for crime prevention urban environmental design service at the district office’s large conference room at 10 a.m. on September 30.
At the briefing, Mayor Kim and members of the Gangseo-gu Design Committee shared the results of the service conducted since April, including the basic status analysis of the Gangseo-gu Safe Living Design Village project area, the five-year basic plan roadmap for the Safe Living Design Village, and the Gangseo-type Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) guidelines.
The district recognized the importance of not only installing safety facilities applying existing CPTED techniques such as mirror sheets and convex mirrors and neighborhood forest (alley) cultivation projects involving resident participation, but also resident safety education, workshops, and community activation through sharing safety information.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “The ‘Gangseo-gu Crime Prevention Urban Environmental Design Basic Plan’ is the fruit achieved together with experts based on the realities and characteristics of Gangseo-gu,” adding, “We will strive to create a safe and livable Gangseo-gu free from crime by communicating with residents based on this basic plan.”
