Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, commented on former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min's continued public criticism of President Yoon Suk-yeol, saying, "Isn't staying silent when the president is in trouble a way to help?"
According to 'Dream of Youth,' an online platform created by Mayor Hong on the 1st, he left this comment the day before on a post titled "Yoo Seung-min is at least saying the right things."
The author of the post, presumed to be a supporter of Mayor Hong, wrote, "Having someone like Yoo Seung-min in the conservative camp at least helps preserve the conservatives' dignity," adding, "I believe there should be many people like Yoo who can confidently say when something is wrong."
They continued, "At the very least, voices like Yoo Seung-min's are needed regarding the recent Biden and Bali incidents," and said, "For various reasons, Jun-pyo hyung seems to be holding back his words, but I think at least Jun-pyo hyung shares the same stance as Yoo."
Former lawmaker Yoo criticized President Yoon's recent 'profanity controversy' on the 29th of last month, stating, "The presidential office and our party should immediately stop this comedy of treating the people like dogs and pigs, and this issue should be cleanly apologized for and put behind us."
Yoo also maintained a critical stance on the 25th of the same month regarding the presidential office's explanation of the 'profanity controversy,' saying, "Lies are worse than abusive language."
