'Mysterious Colors' Scarf Natural Dyeing Wind Color Exhibition by 'Eojjeoda Writers'

Bitnam Film Community Unfolds 'Cultural and Artistic Space' in Dongmyeong-dong, Gwangju

Office Workers Meticulously Craft for Months... "Come See the Works"

On the afternoon of the 1st, members of the Bitnam Film Community and 'Eojjeoda Writers' are enjoying scarves naturally dyed at 'Pureunnamu Workshop' located in Dongmyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the afternoon of the 1st, in Dongmyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, a rich scent of Makgeolli filled the air around the quiet atmosphere of the hanok cafe 'Oriens'.

The scent of freshly poured Makgeolli came from a workshop right in front, while looking at the mysteriously colored scarves hanging throughout the cafe.

Entering through the cafe entrance and opening the old wooden door connecting to the back space, an annex is located there. Inside, the space is divided into three rooms, and in the largest room, naturally dyed scarves were on display.

The scarves, which bore a deep ocean color evoking a sense of mystery, were adorned with various patterns such as roses, peonies, bamboo, and dokkaebi (Korean goblins), each seeming to carry its own intention. Beside the works, craft items engraved simply with the artist's name were charmingly placed.

In fact, these works were not created by professional artists but by ordinary office workers who completed them after a five-month workshop. Hence, they introduce themselves under the name 'Occasional Artists'.

The event 'Scarf Wind Color Exhibition' was hosted by the nonprofit organization Bitnam Film Community (Chairman: Film Director Lee Chang-ho), established with the purpose of "creating a cultural and artistic space where everyone can participate," and organized by 'Pureunnamu Workshop'.

Participants from various fields including academia, law, culture, and sports, after months of training, proudly smiled as their carefully crafted works were revealed to the public.

A hanok cafe named 'Oriens' located in Dongmyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is exhibiting Scapure meticulously created by 'Eojjeoda writers'.

Outside the cafe, even more diverse works were displayed.

Colorful naturally dyed scarves in sky blue, red, pink, and other hues were gently fluttering in the wind, fixed to ropes along the building’s exterior wall, while cushions designed with various characters and drawings attracted the attention of passersby on the tables.

Next to them, a vintage cart plant stand used as a decoration filled the empty space, creating a 'picture-like' scene together with the artworks.

As the main event began, members of the 'Bitnam Korean Dance Troupe' dressed in beautiful hanbok performed traditional dance 'Hwaseonmu' on the asphalt road turned stage.

Attendees could not take their eyes off the performance, joyfully gulping down Makgeolli and biting into pajeon (green onion pancakes) to the lively rhythm of Korean traditional music.

Chairman Lee Jang-ho said, "It is autumn when the leaves, like the sunset, begin to change clothes here and there," and added, "I sincerely congratulate holding such an exhibition to welcome this beautiful season."

He also added, "Through this exhibition, I hope everyone becomes deeply immersed in the beautiful old colors as if meeting indigo in a dream."

Director Son Chang-hwan (Chief Lawyer at Law Firm Locom) emphasized, "I appreciate the active artistic activities of the participating artists despite their busy daily lives."
