Immediate Backlash Through Briefing by Isu-jin Floor Spokesperson
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 30th, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol's refusal to accept the National Assembly's recommendation to dismiss Foreign Minister Park Jin, saying he "missed the last chance to resolve the issue himself."
Lee Su-jin, the party's floor spokesperson, stated in a written briefing that "President Yoon has defied public sentiment."
Regarding the controversy surrounding the president's overseas trip, he called it an "unprecedented diplomatic disaster" and said, "I cannot help but feel devastated by the president's stance that he cannot take any responsibility."
He added, "Previous administrations accepted the National Assembly's dismissal recommendations, and most cabinet members voluntarily resigned," and criticized, "The president's immediate rejection of the dismissal recommendation without consideration clearly reveals arrogance and autocracy that ignore public opinion and the National Assembly."
He further stated, "The exercise of the veto against the dismissal recommendation confirms that the incompetent diplomacy, abusive language, and scandalous remarks are ultimately the president's own problems," and declared, "The Democratic Party will not stop until the truth of this diplomatic disaster is uncovered, the president apologizes, and those responsible are held accountable."
Lee also added, "We will strongly resist the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's loss of governance responsibility, incompetence, and reckless communication, together with the people."
