[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The case in which the People Power Party filed a complaint against MBC regarding the controversial remarks made during President Yoon Seok-yeol's visit to the United States has been assigned to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office.

On the 30th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had received the case in which the People Power Party filed a complaint against MBC officials, including President Park Seong-je, on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., and defamation. This is interpreted as considering the jurisdiction of MBC's headquarters location.

A prosecution official said regarding whether the case would be transferred to the police, "Defamation charges do not fall within the scope of direct investigation by the prosecution," but added, "Since it has not been long since the case was received, we need to review the complaint details to know more."

The People Power Party's 'MBC Biased and Manipulated Broadcasting Truth-Finding Task Force' submitted the complaint to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office the day before, stating, "We strongly condemn MBC's behavior of distorting facts and reporting in a fault-finding manner, and we plan to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident and hold them appropriately accountable."

Park Dae-chul, head of the TF, said, "MBC is engaging in acts that distort the truth in a brazen manner without any reflection on the 'subtitle manipulation' incident," and added, "The truth can be uncovered through prosecution investigations or police inquiries."
