[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 30th, Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 29th, Vice Mayor Kang Young-gu presided over the '2022 Korea Safety Great Transition Intensive Safety Inspection Progress Report Meeting.'
The intensive inspection aims to preemptively eliminate risk factors in facilities closely related to residents' lives and to check the overall safety management status of society, and is scheduled to continue until the 14th of next month.
The inspection targets include a total of 83 locations: 13 apartment complexes over 15 years since completion, 12 child welfare facilities and daycare centers, 10 road bridges, 8 landslide risk areas, and 5 construction sites.
According to the report meeting, through a real-name inspection system involving the departments in charge of facilities, private experts, and related organizations, safety inspections have been completed at 40 locations so far, and full efforts will be made to inspect the remaining 43 locations by the end of the period.
The city is focusing on eliminating blind spots in safety inspections by actively utilizing drones, thermal imaging cameras, and other equipment for facilities where manpower and equipment access is difficult, such as high-rise buildings.
Minor issues found during inspections will be immediately corrected, and facilities with identified risk factors will undergo detailed safety diagnoses, repairs, and reinforcements as follow-up measures, with thorough periodic history management until the risks are resolved.
Vice Mayor Kang Young-gu said, “We will do our best until the end to eliminate risk factors through intensive safety inspections of facilities so that citizens can live in a safe environment,” and added, “We hope each household will actively participate in voluntary safety inspections.”
