[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education conducted metaverse education for elementary, middle, and high school students over two days, from the 1st to the 2nd.
The education was conducted as part of the Ulsan Science Convergence Festival Metaverse Operation Project.
Students experienced VR and AR using smartphones and created their own virtual spaces using 'Cospaceis.' They also developed team projects themed around Ulsan or space in Cospaceis, unleashing their imagination.
Outstanding student works created during the metaverse education will be exhibited within the '2022 Ulsan Science Convergence Festival Metaverse.'
The metaverse education was designed to provide opportunities to utilize future core technologies, helping students recognize changes in future society and acquire practical foundational skills through a mix of theory and practice.
Through this education, students not only created virtual spaces but also learned coding to implement desired scenes and marveled at the virtual spaces that changed according to the coding processes they created themselves.
A student who participated in the class said, "I enjoyed being able to freely imagine while creating my own aquarium and historical figure cube," adding, "The team project made me think a lot about our hometown Ulsan and space."
An official from the Office of Education said, "As part of the 4th Industrial Revolution education, we provided opportunities for students to experience the metaverse and create metaverse projects themed on Ulsan and space to foster their creativity," and added, "We also plan to conduct metaverse-related education for teachers on the 8th to enable the use of the metaverse in educational settings."
