[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 30th that its brand for customers in their 20s, Y, will hold a "Discharge Celebration" promotion from October 1 to November 30 for KT customers who are being discharged in honor of Armed Forces Day.
The benefits of this promotion consist of content, education, and items that soldiers wish to have during their military service. Customers whose service ends under the KT Y Soldier Plan or Y Soldier Benefits can participate in the promotion by applying through the YBox app.
First, customers who apply for the promotion will receive a 3-month free Disney+ subscription and a 10,000 KRW Kakao Webtoon gift certificate. Individual messages with the Disney+ voucher will be sent to customers, and they can register via the provided URL to use it for free. For Kakao Webtoon, customers can register the coupon number issued in the YBox app’s "Reward Box" on the Kakao Webtoon platform.
For customers continuing their studies after discharge, Y provides MegaStudy’s "Mega Pass 7-day trial" and three "20% discount coupons for single-subject lectures," as well as Eduwill’s "15% online lecture discount coupon" through the YBox app. Detailed usage information and precautions can be found on the "Y Naver Post."
Additionally, Y will gift 14 people by lottery with an iPad Air, Apple Watch 8, and popular Nike models (Dunk). A total of 200 people will receive the popular "Y Artist Collaboration Tyvek Pouch," a collaboration merchandise from Y artists "Hyperpension" and "Don Overthinkit."
Meanwhile, Y is conducting various events to honor the Armed Forces and national holidays. Every week, quizzes that resonate with soldiers discharged in Korea are released through the YBox app, with hints provided via videos produced by Y Futurists on Y’s YouTube channel. Generous prizes are prepared for customers who participate in the quizzes. This event is open to everyone regardless of their telecom provider.
Y involved KT Group’s university student supporters, the "Y Futurists," to gather ideas reflecting the concerns of 20-somethings preparing for discharge for this promotion and events.
Goo Gang-bon, Senior Vice President and Head of KT’s Customer Business Division, said, "This promotion was prepared together with the Y Futurists to express gratitude to discharged soldiers who dedicated themselves to the country. We hope it will help Y customers preparing for a new start." He added, "KT will continue to communicate with customers in their 20s through various benefits tailored to their perspectives."
