[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Amid the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Gimpo and Paju, Gyeonggi Province has carried out emergency culling of the affected pig farms and launched an all-out effort to prevent further spread.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 30th, after suspected reports of African Swine Fever (ASF) were received on the 28th from pig farms in Haseong-myeon, Gimpo, and Munsan-myeon, Paju, detailed tests confirmed positive results for both farms.

The province dispatched epidemiologists to the sites to conduct initial epidemiological investigations and is currently pushing for the complete culling of 6,336 pigs raised at the affected farms (5,203 in Gimpo and 1,133 in Paju).

For vehicles and workers related to pig farming within the province, a temporary movement ban (Standstill) has been issued from the afternoon of the ASF outbreak day until 5 p.m. today, and vehicle movement is currently being controlled using GPS.

Starting from the 29th, the province is conducting thorough inspections of all 57 pig farms located in Gimpo, Goyang, and Paju, while continuing intensive disinfection efforts targeting all pig farms, feed companies, manure treatment facilities, and slaughterhouses throughout the province.

Earlier, on the afternoon of the 29th, Lee Han-gyu, Deputy Governor for Administration 2, visited the Yangju base disinfection facility with quarantine officials to conduct an on-site inspection of the biosecurity measures.
