Gochang-gun Selected for Forest Watershed Management Contest Project for 2 Consecutive Years

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 30th that it has been selected for the 'Forest Watershed Management Public Project' again next year following this year.

The Forest Watershed Management Public Project, implemented by the Korea Forest Service, is a project to build check dams to prepare for landslides and minimize damage that may occur during heavy rains, and to manage forests by regulating the flow of valley water.

This year, the project is being carried out in the area of San 24-1, Yonggye-ri, Asan-myeon.

With a natural recreation forest facility planned nearby, the project is expected to have a significant effect.

Next year's Forest Watershed Management Public Project is planned to include one check dam and 0.7 km of stream conservation. The total project cost is 1.131 billion KRW, of which about 1.029 billion KRW, or 91%, will be secured from national and provincial funds.

A county official said, "Through this Forest Watershed Management Public Project, we hope to maintain the forest healthily and bring a new wave of forest recreation activities to a vibrant Gochang."
