Attracting Investment in Advanced New Material-Related Industries Such as Secondary Batteries, Lightweight Materials, and Rare Gases
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Director Song Sang-rak, hereinafter Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced that on the 29th, it held the ‘2022 Gwangyang Economic Authority Materials and Components Expert Group Meeting’ to explore ways to develop the local materials and components industry and revitalize corporate attraction.
At the meeting held in the conference room of Hidden Bay Hotel in Yeosu, a free discussion took place on market trends in promising advanced blue ocean industries, discovery of potential investment companies, and investment attraction plans from materials experts in government industrial policies related to materials and components, secondary batteries, lightweight and eco-friendly materials, and rare gases.
The experts attending the meeting mentioned that it is desirable to discover new materials companies such as next-generation secondary batteries, magnesium, semiconductor materials (neon, krypton), and eco-friendly polymer materials linked to government industrial policies, and to actively attract investment through clustering of related parts and equipment companies. They also suggested revitalization measures that can lead to investments from small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large corporations.
Song Sang-rak, Director of the Gwangyang Economic Authority, said, “The Gwangyang Bay Area will become a strategic cluster in promising materials and components fields by utilizing secondary battery materials, magnesium, semiconductor materials, and eco-friendly materials, linked with existing fostered industries, and we will continue efforts to create new jobs and expand cargo volume.”
