[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The cause of death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, who passed away at the age of 96, has been revealed as "old age."

On the 29th (local time), CNN reported that the National Records of Scotland released Queen Elizabeth's death certificate.

According to the death certificate, the time of the Queen's death was 3:10 PM on the 8th, which was 3 hours and 20 minutes before the British royal family announced her passing. The cause of death was recorded as "old age," and the certificate was signed by Princess Anne, the Queen's daughter. Princess Anne had previously stated that she spent the last day with the Queen before her passing.

The place of death was recorded as "Balmoral Castle" in Scotland, and her usual residence was noted as "Windsor Castle" in England. Unlike England and Wales, Scotland mandates the registration of all deaths.

Born in 1926, the Queen ascended to the throne at the age of 26 in 1952. She served as the head of Commonwealth countries including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for 70 years, and during her reign, she met 15 prime ministers from Winston Churchill to Liz Truss.

The Queen showed signs of frailty after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April last year, and since being hospitalized for one day in October of the same year, she refrained from public activities.

Following the Queen's passing, the British royal family held a state funeral for ten days starting from the 8th and officially proclaimed Charles III as the monarch. The Queen's coffin was placed in the "King George VI Memorial Chapel," where she rests beside the late Prince Philip.
