[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide a work incentive of up to 4.8 million KRW over two years to young workers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it will recruit 4,500 participants for the second round of the "2022 SME Youth Worker Support Project" from the 1st to the 17th of next month.
The project targets young residents of Gyeonggi Province aged 18 to 34 who work at SMEs located in Gyeonggi Province for at least 36 hours per week and earn a monthly salary of 2.9 million KRW or less.
Selected youth workers will receive a work incentive of 600,000 KRW quarterly for two years, up to a maximum of 4.8 million KRW, paid in local currency.
Applications can be submitted online through the Youth Worker Support Project website.
Selection of recipients will be based on applicants' monthly salary (health insurance premium) in ascending order, and in the case of ties, factors such as length of service and duration of residence in the province will be considered.
The final list of recipients will be announced on the application website in early November.
Since last year, considering the prolonged difficulties faced by young workers due to COVID-19, the province has expanded the eligible industries from only small and medium manufacturing to all SMEs and removed restrictions on supporting youth working at small businesses with fewer than five employees. For youth who have completed their military service, the application age limit has been extended by the duration of their military service.
