October 1-2 'Chuncheon PET STA' Event Venue Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory Inspection Booth
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon-do Animal Hygiene Testing Center is offering a free testing service for zoonotic diseases in companion animals (dogs).
The test items include eight types of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks, such as heartworm disease transmitted by mosquitoes and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) transmitted by ticks.
The test items are heartworm disease, anaplasmosis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, canine brucellosis, rabies (antibody), leptospirosis, and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS).
The tests also include zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted from infected companion animals to humans.
Those wishing to get tested must visit the Animal Hygiene Testing Center booth at the 'Chuncheon PET STA' event, held from October 1 to 2 at the auxiliary stadium of Songam Sports Town in Chuncheon City (operating hours 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM).
Seo Jong-eok, director of the Gangwon-do Animal Hygiene Testing Center, said, "Due to the environmental characteristics of the province, there is a relatively high possibility of exposure to vectors of infectious diseases such as mosquitoes and ticks," adding, "We expect this testing to provide residents with information about zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted between humans and companion animals."
