'Investigation of Omitted Tax Sources in Transmission Tower and Right-of-Way Surface Rights Classification' Topic
Kim Young-tae, Property Management Team Leader, Claims Compensation for Loss of Use Due to Unauthorized Use
At the '2022 Public Property Awards Selection Announcement Ceremony' held on the 27th and 28th, Pohang City won the grand prize.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, received the prestigious Grand Prize at the ‘2022 Local Government Shared Property Awards’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Pohang City participated in the ‘2022 Shared Property Awards Selection Presentation’ held on the 27th and 28th at Sonovel Cheonan in Cheonan City, attended by about 150 public officials in charge of shared property from 243 local governments nationwide.
Previously, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety collected nationwide utilization cases in the shared property field from local governments, selected a total of 11 excellent cases through the first round of document screening, and at this workshop, presentations were made by six final local governments (Gwangjin-gu, Seoul; Gyeonggi Province; Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi; Asan City, Chungnam; Busan City; and Pohang City).
On this day, Kim Young-tae, Property Management Team Leader of the Financial Management Division of Pohang City, gave a presentation titled ‘Discovering Omitted Tax Sources through Investigation of Transmission Towers and Subsurface Distinct Surface Rights,’ earning high praise from the judges and winning the grand prize.
Kim Young-tae, who presented on this day, confirmed that Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)-owned transmission towers and subsurface areas installed on city-owned land had been used without authorization for decades, and through active field investigations, imposed lease fees and compensation charges and also claimed loss compensation.
The city was highly evaluated by the judging panel for contributing to financial expansion by finding new omitted tax sources through long-term data investigation, legal review, and consultation with related agencies through proactive administration.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “We will continue to do our best in managing and utilizing shared property, which is the citizens’ property, through proactive administration and continuous work study in the field of shared property.”
