Seoul Metropolitan Government Hangang Project Headquarters Operates Ecological Programs at 6 Ecological Parks

Diverse Programs to Experience Nature in the City as Part of the 'Hangang Festival? Autumn'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 30th that it will conduct an autumn ecological program, "Forest Play, Ecological Play," allowing people to feel the autumn atmosphere and observe the ecological value of the Hangang River. This program will be operated from October 1 to 16 during the festival period as part of the "Hangang Festival - Autumn."

"Forest Play, Ecological Play" can be participated in at six hidden ecological parks along the Hangang River in the city. The Gangseo Wetland Ecological Park, a bird-specialized park, welcomes visitors with birds that reside year-round. It offers birdwatching programs and ecological explorations along the willow forest paths and trails filled with the autumn atmosphere, such as the "Ecological Exploration Following the Willow Waterway."

Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park, established in 1997 as Korea's first ecological park, is a space in the heart of the city where visitors can encounter mandarin ducks, narrow-mouth frogs, and herons. Autumn ecological programs include "Coloring the Saetgang," where participants learn about plants living in the Saetgang and dye using plant dyes, and "Let's All Walk Around Saetgang," a nature observation walk with plant observers along the Saetgang.

At the Nanji Waterside Learning Center, participants can explore the park using maps and compasses and complete ecology-related tasks through programs like the Doombung Insect Ecotouring and enjoy various autumn activities with family in the wetlands during the Autumn Festival. At the Hangang Wildlife Exploration Center in Nanji Hangang Park, programs such as the Autumn Hangang Bicycle Exploration Team, which explores the ecology while cycling along the autumn-colored Hangang, and the Walking Tour "Step by Step into Autumn Hangang" are available.

At Amsa Ecological Park, visitors can experience the Insect Music Concert by observing insect sounds and learn how nature changes in autumn and understand plant reproduction methods through "Forest Play, Ecological Play Let's Play Autumn." Godeok Waterside Ecological Park offers various autumn ecological experiences such as the birdwatching program and "Walking into the Ecological Landscape Zone," which helps understand nature by learning about the park's flora and fauna, and "Let's Walk a Park Round After Drinking the Dawn Dew," a refreshing early morning park walk.

Meanwhile, to commemorate World Migratory Bird Day on October 8, a team program reflecting on the significance of migratory bird conservation will be held in cooperation with the Seoul Science Museum at Gangseo Wetland Ecological Park and Godeok Waterside Ecological Park. Kim Sang-guk, head of the Hangang Project Headquarters' Park Division, said, "As we welcome the bountiful season of autumn, we hope everyone enjoys the richness of nature through the autumn ecological experience 'Forest Play, Ecological Play' held at Hangang," and added, "We will continue to offer various programs that allow people to feel the nature and ecology of Hangang."
