[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Kim Joil) achieved a remarkable feat by ranking first in the fire category at the national competition.
Jeonnam Fire announced that from the 27th to the 29th, they won first place nationwide in the fire suppression category at the '35th National Firefighting Skills Competition' held at Gongju Central Fire Academy.
The National Firefighting Skills Competition is a contest where firefighters representing cities and provinces nationwide demonstrate their disaster response skills in five fields and eight events: fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, elite firefighting, and fire investigation.
At this competition, the Mokpo Fire Station team, led by Fire Captain Lee Yangjae and five other members representing Jeonnam Fire in the fire suppression category, achieved the highest combined score in two events: fire suppression tactics and speed water discharge.
The fire suppression category is divided into speed water discharge, which involves quickly and accurately extending fire hoses from the fire truck to the fire site to extinguish the fire, and fire suppression tactics, both requiring physical strength and speed.
The Jeonnam Fire team, by securing first place nationwide, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, and the five team members excluding the commander were honored with a one-rank promotion.
Chief Kim Joil of the Fire Headquarters said, "I am proud of the results of the efforts and sweat of the members who trained day and night to prepare for the skills competition," and added, "Based on this achievement, please continue to strive to provide the best firefighting services to the residents."
