[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Jeon Juhwan (31), the suspect in the 'Sindang Station Station Attendant Murder Case,' was sentenced to 9 years in prison in the first trial for stalking and illegal filming of the victim.

The Criminal Division 12 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Andongbeom) sentenced Jeon to 9 years in prison on the morning of the 28th for charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, the Stalking Punishment Act, and the Information and Communications Network Act. This sentence is the same as the prosecution's demand. The court also ordered 80 hours of stalking treatment and 40 hours of sexual crime treatment programs. The court stated the sentencing reason, saying, "Although the defendant submitted several letters of apology during the trial, he committed the crime by approaching the victim contrary to those statements. We judged that there is a need to prevent additional crimes in stalking offenses."

Earlier, Jeon was indicted for creating anxiety 351 times by sending illegal footage and threatening messages to the victim A, who was his colleague at Seoul Metro in early October last year. When the victim reported this to the police, Jeon also stalked by sending 21 text messages demanding a settlement from November last year to February this year. The two cases were merged during the trial process.

Jeon is also charged with murdering the victim in the women's restroom at Sindang Station on the Seoul subway on the 14th. It was investigated that he committed the crime out of resentment after the prosecution demanded 9 years in prison in the merged case where the sentencing was made that day. The murder case is currently under investigation by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
